Founded in 1944, Porto Editora is currently the largest publishing group in Portugal. Its wide book catalog covers areas of education and literature. In recent years, they have also expanded to creating digital educational resources in Portuguese.
Published by Porto Editora, Treino a caligrafia, Cadernos caligráficos, and O meu caderno de caligrafia Top! are richly-illustrated series of books geared toward teaching handwriting in schools.

The cursive letterforms used in the Porto Editora’s books are very similar to traditional vertical cursive writing in France, with the exception being the lowercase letters, whose foundations are more elliptical than round. The capital letters, like their French counterparts, are quite tall and narrow and have ornaments typical of classic calligraphic models. Notably, these books use guidelines similar to the French Séyès system in their tracing exercises.
