NZ Handwriting Style is published by Australian School Fonts, an online resource and repository of original typefaces for handwriting instruction designed following official guidelines issued by the governments of New Zealand, and of different regions in Australia. It is run by Kevin G Brown, as Graphitype.

It comprises three styles — NZ Basic Script GT, NZ PreCursive GT and NZ Cursive GT Pro. They are an unjoined style, a transitional one with entry and exit strokes, and a cursive style respectively.

“Basic script” (top) and its cursive style bottom, as shown in Teaching Handwriting, Ministry of Education | New Zealand Government, 2008.

The design closely follows the specifications in Teaching Handwriting. Lowercase letters are built on the foundation of a slanted oval, have slightly tall ascenders, and are semi-joined in their cursive style. The design resolves the conflicting recommendations about diagonal joins to letters with ascenders like k, l, f and t in Teaching Handwriting by replicating what is shown in samples, rather than following the written description. As a result, the design features these joins. The uppercase letters are in the style of simplified print script.
